Sessions of 5th SLF

The Sindh Literature Festival featured a variety of sessions that explored diverse themes and subjects related to literature and culture. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions, listen to captivating talks and speeches, and attend workshops on writing and other related topics. The sessions brought together writers, poets, scholars, and cultural experts, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and perspectives. Whether it was a panel discussion on current literary trends, a workshop on creative writing techniques, or a talk on the cultural significance of literature, the sessions at the Sindh Literature Festival offered something for everyone, making it a truly enriching experience for all attendees.

Sessions - 2022

  • OPENING CEREMONY

    The 5th Sindh Literature Festival was inaugurated by Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the Provincial Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities and Archives accompanied with Muhammad Ahmed Shah, President Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, Sindh, Naseer Gopang, the founder of Sindh Literature Festival and Zohaib Kaka, the Founding Member of SLF. The ceremony was also attended by Abdul Rahim Soomro the Secretary of Culture, Abdul Aleem Lashari the Director General of Culture Department, Shamsul Haq Memon, the Trustee of Endowment Fund Trust (EFT), Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Commissioner Karachi along with eminent writers and scholars: Noor ul Huda Shah, Mahtab Akbar Rashdi, Naseer Memon etc.

  • 100 Years of Excavation of Mohenjo-Daro

    National and International archaeologists participated in the session and they talked about the importance of the civilization of Mohenjo-Daro, its contemporary civilizations, and the work done so far on to preserve the heritage Mohenjo-Daro.

  • Qoumparast Siyasat: Maazi, Haal aeen Mustaqbil

    In this session, there was a discussion about the past and present of Sindh’s National Politics and the future of National Politics. The movements for the right of the language, land, water, and mineral resources were also discussed.

  • Colors of Indus Civilization

    Sindh Literature Festival Celebrates all cultural diversity of the country. There are different cast, norms, cultures, and traditions being celebrated in the country. It comprises of four provinces, and each province has its lifestyle. Cultural performances were also the part of the 5th Sindh Literature Festival.

  • Heroes of Sindh

    In this session, famous historian Dr. Mubarak Ali was asked, how many times Sindh had been invaded in the history and who were the invaders. What was the purpose of those invasions? What damage invaders did to the people and the land of Sindh?

  • The Future of Sindhi Literature In the Digital World

    Writers and Publishers participated in this session. They answered the questions about the progress in the literary world which is changing and being virtual so fast. The future of publishing and printing was weighed.

  • Books that have an impact on Sindhi Society

    In this session, there was a discussion on those books, which are read in every period and have a profound impact on Sindhi society till the date.

  • A Journey of Thought: From Shah Latif to Shaikh Ayaz

    The journey of thought in Sindhi literature from Shah Abdul Atif Bhitai to Sheikh Ayaz was discussed.

  • Popular Movements of Sindh

    In this session, the popular movements of Sindh such as the separation of Sindh from the Bombay Presidency, the Hur Movement, the Movement against the One Unit, the Movement against the Kalabagh Dam and the Thall Canal were discussed.

  • Hamen Tum Pay Naaz Hay - We Proud of You

    In this session, Sultana Siddiqui, the Founder of Hum TV Network, talked about her personal and professional life. She talked about her upcoming projects as well.

  • Contribution of Sindhi Diaspora

    In this session, the discussion was held with Sindhis living across the world as a diaspora. The organizations made by Sindhis and the agendas of their organizations were also hashed over.

  • SEF - 30 Years of Commitment to Quality Education

    The talk was on the completion of 30 years of “The Sindh Education Foundation”. The Foundation was established relating to education in Sindh, it was discussed what kind of measures had been taken by SEF for the improvement of Education in Sindh all these years.

  • Relation Between Sindhi and Urdu Language

    In this session, the relationship between Sindhi and Urdu languages was discussed. The spoken and literary scope of both languages was also encompassed.

  • Current Political Situation of Pakistan

    When the 5th Sindh Literature Festival was being held, the joint opposition had submitted a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister of the country, and the country’s political situation was enormously unpredictable.

  • Feminist Movement of Sindh

    In this session, the history of the Feminist Movement in Sindh and the problems faced by the women leaders leading the movement were discussed.

  • Karachi Ja Adeendarr

    In the session, a discussion was held about the main Characters who founded the city of Karachi and played a role in making it a modern city in the world.

  • Ishq Tamam Birih Tamam - Talk on Book

    Sindh Literature Festival conducted an important inaugural session on the novel “Ishq Tamam Birih Tamam” by the renowned writer of Sindh Dr. Saher Gul, in which that eminent writers of Sindh shed light on different aspects of the novel.

  • The Modern World and Our Youth

    In this session, the IT Minister and the Youth from various fields including IT, Marketing, Film Making participated as speakers, and enlightened the audition about the current trends of the world, and how to compete with the world and earn money.

  • History of Attacks on Sindh

  • Modern Literature in Mother Languages

    In this session, modern literature, written in Sindhi, Balochi, Saraiki, Punjabi, and Urdu languages was discussed.

  • Conversation with Amar Jaleel

    In this session, the seasoned writer of Sindh, Amar Jaleel for the first time put the light on the false accusations against him. Noor ul Huda Shah apologized to Amar Jalil on behalf of the entire Sindhi nation. Hearing that, his eyes filled with tears.

  • Population Explosion: A real threat to Pakistan

    The threats of growing population were discussed. What are the main problems in family planning and why population is increased in the large cities on a large extent.

  • Current State of Pakistan's Foreign Policy

    Foreign Policy of Pakistan was discussed in the session as how independent and self-governed it is; what is the importance of Pakistan in today’s world; how much the role of the economy is vital in foreign policy.

  • Past, Present and Future of Print and Electronic Media

    The role of Sindhi Media was discussed in this session; and its success to represent the case of Sindh was also reviewed.

  • 8:00 - 9:00

    Mohatta Palace Jo Muqadmo (Legal Status & Current Situation)

    In this session, the historical position of Mohatta Palace was brought under light at length regarding its construction, and historic importance in Sindh, for, the building had been the residence of Ms. Fatima Jinnah, Moreover, Sindh High Court’s decision converting the building in a college was discussed as well, and various other aspects of prestigious building were discussed in the session.

  • Dharti Ja Sitara

    In this session, the discussion was held with the well-known and celebrated actors about their personal experiences in Pakistan’s Drama and Film Industry and their current projects.

The 5th Sindh Literature Festival was hosted 10 book launches, featured works by various authors.

  • Gustaakh Mohabbat

    The book by the young writer Saleem Jamali, published by Roshni Publication.

  • Baba Anwar Pirzado

    The book is about the life of the renowned Journalist and Poet Anwar Pirzado, which had been compiled by his son and Poet Amar Pirzado.

  • Shah Latif Jo Nafsiyati Ibhyaas

    The poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was reviewed from different viewpoints, and it was discussed how even today the people of Sindh consider Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai a great poet and a mentor.

  • Adm Kha Agtay

    The book Adm Kha Agtay” is a collection of poetry by the renowned poet and columnist Ali Zahid, which contains poems, ghazals, songs, and other genres.

  • Kainat, Zindagi aeen Insaan

    The book by Dr. Sikander Mughal contains human history, beliefs, and science.

  • Siyasat, Cinema aeen Shakhsiyatoon

    The book of Columnist Dr. Naazir Mahmood comprising his columns, which was translated into Sindhi Language by Aslam Khuwaja, was discussed.

Music, Performances and Multilingual Mushaira

SLF Celebrates all cultural diversity of the country. there are different cast, norms, cultures, and traditions being celebrated in the country. It comprises of four provinces, and each province has its lifestyle. Cultural performances were also the part of the 5th Sindh Literature Festival.

Music and Multilingual Mushairo - 2022

  • Multi-Language Mushaira

    The Sindh Literature Festival connects nations of the country. In this regard, every year there is also a multi-language mushaira in which poets of Sindhi, Urdu, Punjabi, Balochi, Pashto, Saraiki, Hindi, Brahvi, Gujarati and other languages participate.

    The Multi-Language Mushaira was presided over by the famous poet of the Sindhi language, Iqbal Rind. Famous poets of the country Ahmed Solangi, Ali Akash, Naseer Mirza, Ali Zahid, Muhammad Ali, AH Khanzada, Waheed Noor, Mansoor Sahir, Amar Pirzado, Zaid Pirzado, Imtiaz Danish, Shah Zaman Bhangar, Fawad Kalwr, Zara Hussain, Sidra Jazbat, Dr. Hina Ambreen Tariq, Sabeen Saif, Afzal Hazarwi, Saeed Ahmed Saadi, Areen Farhat, Ishaq Khamosh, Ghulam Ali Wafa and others participated. Two of the famous poets of Urdu and Sindhi, Amar Iqbal and Zaheer Zarf, conducted the Mushaira.

  • Ahmed Mughal

    Ahmed Mughal entertained audiences at the Sindh Literature Festival with a second night musical performance. His dynamic vocal range and musical talent captivated the crowd and added to the energy of the festival. The event was a celebration of art, culture and literature and Ahmed's contribution added to the diverse range of performances.

  • Ustad Fareed Ayaz & Abu Muhammad Qawwal

    Ustad Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad Qawwal mesmerized the audience with their second night musical performance at the Sindh Literature Festival. Their performance was a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of South Asia and a tribute to the timeless art of Qawwali music. The audience was transported to another realm as the duo's powerful voices filled the air with devotion and soulfulness, making for an unforgettable night of music at the festival.

    Ambar Mahek elevated the second night of the Sindh Literature Festival with his musical performance.   • Rajab Faqeer

    Rajab Faqeer's sufi musical performance at the Sindh Literature Festival was a soul-stirring experience for those in attendance. The audience was treated to a mesmerizing display of Rajab's powerful voice and traditional sufi music, which echoed the rich cultural heritage of Sindh. The band's eclectic mix of instruments and vocal harmonies created a powerful sound that captivated the crowd and kept them engaged from start to finish.
